We are the collective "Boucliers FABLAB" based in France, specifically in the Grand Est region. From the start, we have been working to protect our healthcare professionals during this fight against COVID-19. Initially, we produced and made available a special face shield model chosen by the Strasbourg University Hospital. Although this model was very well studied, comfortable, and adapted for intensive use like that of hospital staff, it had two flaws: it required an elastic strap for maintenance and took a lot of time to print, over 3 hours and 30 minutes. That's why we modeled a version that solves the problem of printing time, between 45 minutes and one hour depending on the machines, keeps comfort for its user, and no longer needs an elastic strap. To maintain compatibility with previously produced visors, we kept the same fixation legs from the original model, which corresponds to the spacing of a standard Prusa visor. Our goal is to protect all people facing the risk of contamination as best as possible, not just in the Grand Est region but at a national level. That's why we are sharing and making the source file available so you can use it ethically and offer this model for free. Any commercial reproduction will be subject to prosecution by the Boucliers Fablab collective. So that you can offer them a reliable, stable, comfortable, REUSABLE, and especially DISINFECTABLE model as well.
