Alveo 3D (or similar) HEPA filter holder

thingiverse

A 3D printable "holder" that requires cutting out a 12.5cm square hole. The Alveo 3D filter (the one in the pictures) is <5cm high, and the IKEA LACK (also in the pictures) tabletop is 5cm high. The idea is that the fan on top sucks air out through the filter. I was also thinking if one fan is not enough to create sufficient airflow, it might be an idea to modify the bottom piece so that a fan can be screwed in there as well so that there is a sucking as well as a pushing fan. The fan screws can be loosened to remove the fan, and the insert underneath can be popped out (for me it actually does pop, though I did have to file the sides of the insert a bit to get the insert to fit snug). With the fan and insert off you have access to the filter in case you want to replace or clean the filter (not sure if HEPA filters are supposed to be cleaned). I used "some screws that my mother donated for the project". The screwhead on these screws have an outer diameter of 8mm, the screwthread has an outer diameter of 4mm, and the "length of screwhead" (till the top of the screwhead reaches the screwthread) is 3mm. The bolts I used to attach the fan are m3 30mm long bolts. I ended up having to slightly drill the holes for the m3 bolts out (I did this with a drill bit for metal). There are also m3 nuts ("standard ones") at the bottom of the top piece to provide screwthread for the bolts (some fit straight away into the hole, other holes I had to file a bit to get them to fit). NOTE: though I had to drill and file, the dimensions in the CAD file aren't wrong I think, but small holes coming out smaller than intended is a known issue in prusa 3D https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/4561 NOTE: in the pictures the corner closest to the camera isn't chamfered while the other corners are. The files that are uploaded here don't have this issue.
