AluXL printer
thingiverse
My printer is based on the Aluminum Mendel design but with some modifications. To enhance its capabilities, I increased the build envelope to nearly 12" x 12" x 12". For the X and Y axis, I utilized 10 mm smooth rod with LM10UU's. The Y-axis motor is a NEMA 23 for improved performance. Additionally, I implemented Greg's hinged accessible extruder in the carriage for ease of use. To further optimize the printer, I disassembled an ATX PSU and installed it with Gen 7 under the build platform. Future enhancements include redesigning the X ends to accommodate crash springs, which can be removed from under the platform to minimize jitter. This printer is fully functional, and I will soon share more detailed files.
