Aluminum Tube Substitute for Filament Drybox
prusaprinters

For printing with highly-hygroscopic materials such as water-soluble supports or just for regular printing of PETG or ABS exposed to moisture, a drybox is a key way to prevent fast deterioration of materials.

For the instructions on the PrusaPrinters blog from some time ago there was an article for how to make a nice drybox that can also mount onto the top of their v2 enclosure. One of the steps mentioned to cut the aluminum tubes provided with a MMU2 upgrade to a length of 100 mm. I didn't want to do this because of a fear of being inaccurate with the cuts or needing the original size again - and I couldn't find any real option to buy if I hadn't done it right.

I made a 3D model you can print (with PETG or any similar material, although I used PLA and it has been working fine so far) as a substitute for the aluminum rod. It might not be as strong but it gets the job done. :)

Enjoy!
