Aluminium Square Tube Connectors - Parametric SCAD Library
thingiverse
This text describes a project for creating plastic connectors that fit Aluminum or printable square tubes, similar to those used in furniture assembly from homeware stores. Qubelok is one type of connector available, and STL files are provided for download on the website. The connectors work with a one-inch or 25.4mm profile tube, but OpenSCAD allows for size customization. The project includes SCAD files with callable modules to model the connectors and tube profiles, as well as a print module to split parts in half for 3D printing. Although still a work in progress, the creator is also working on a hollow version for cable passage through the joins, but no promises have been made. The connector works well with the tubes but doesn't lock-in like the original. Photos of the printed connectors are available, and the STLs are mostly cut to print properly, requiring another part for gluing. Some combinations allow specific print grain choices, while others offer flexibility in joining 90-degree angles. Blocks and Inserts can also be printed and glued together as needed. The creator suggests keeping the larger cube section at the origin to help with translation during printing.
