Aluminium Hotend holder
prusaprinters
Last year i bought a 3Droid i3 Prusa with an acrylic frame and aluminium base. After 6 months of intensiv using some parts began to deform or need to be modified. I tryied to copy then as good as possible with 123Design. The Auto Bed Level arm for the servo was to short, after using a new Hotend. Later the filament lever on the extrution motor was broken apart. And last month one main part began to deform. The motor mount and hot end holder (orange ABS). I disassembled everything and with a caliper and 3 hours later, I had a nice copy. But I wasn´t happy with that. (black ABS) So I began to build it out of metal. The first try looks very bad, but it worked out very well. Then I found some thick aluminium. So I copy my ABS model to the metal. The dimensions are the same. Only the "Hotendclamp" is 3D printed. The motor had a good cooling effect thru the metal. Because of the smooth surface of the Hotend not wobble.
