Aluminium-Frame for the Ultimaker
thingiverse
This aluminum frame enhances the Ultimaker, providing greater precision and speed. File formats for all parts (excluding plastic components) are available in SolidEdge ST5 format; contact me if you need assistance with an alternative file type. Key improvements to the frame include holders for a strong direct drive, repositioned spool-holder for 3 kg spools in dual head mode, and a deeper holder for the Ultimaker controller. A heated aluminum print plate is also incorporated for use as a bed. Benefits of this frame are reduced noise, improved first layer quality, elimination of temperature and humidity issues, and perfect edges due to direct drive precision. The 3D model was sourced from Thingiverse, with modifications made to fit aluminum parts. Lasercutting is used for part creation, with drilling required for small holes. Sanding, cleaning, sandblasting, and reaming are necessary post-assembly steps. Loctite 641 retaining compound secures bearings in place, while a reamer in 16 K7 or M7 would provide an even better fit.
