Aluminium Extrusion Frame
thingiverse
This collection of components is part of the assembly required for a 3D printer framework. These specific parts were designed to fit perfectly into the frame of a 3D printer. The framework relies on 3/4" x 3/4" aluminium extrusions, with each one measuring 1/16" in thickness. Since 3/4" is equivalent to approximately 19.05 mm, this dimension becomes clear. To construct this framework, you will need: * Four of each printed component * Four pieces of 3/4" x 3/4" x X" aluminium extrusions * Four pieces of 3/4" x 3/4" x Y" aluminium extrusions * Four pieces of 3/4" x 3/4" x Z" aluminium extrusions * Twenty-four 8-32 x 1 1/2" machine screws with their corresponding nuts * Eight or sixteen (*) 8-32 x 1 1/4" machine screws with their respective nuts For this particular build, X measures 500 mm, Y equals 400 mm, and Z stands at 450 mm. Some tabs featuring pilot holes are included to facilitate the attachment of an enclosure. These tabs add a total of 10 mm to the overall length. The screw tabs themselves measure 12 mm in length, effectively adding 17 mm to each extrusion's length, or 34 mm when both sides are considered. If the enclosure attachment tabs are also factored in, the total added length comes out to be 54 mm. These components are remarkably easy to print, requiring no support material whatsoever. Additional add-ons will soon be published under separate listings. The end result promises to be a fully functional 3D printer with a build plate measuring 200 mm (W) x 300 mm (D) x 300 mm (H). (*) This specific combination of screws is recommended when using the "Corner Bracket Ortogonal Part V2" instead of the original "Corner Bracket Ortogonal Part". The new design offers enhanced stability. You may also choose to enhance your frame with adjustable feet, available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2250225. Ivan Miranda's work (http://ivanmiranda.com/) served as a significant inspiration for this design.
