Aluminium Bed Mount Plate
thingiverse
The Aluminium Bed Mount Plate is a mod for the Prusa Mendel's bed, providing pre-drilled, tapped holes to accommodate bolt-able PLA bushings, Prusajr PCB heated print bed, belt clamps, and Y-axis opto flag. Designed specifically for Reprap Prusa Mendel 3D printers, this mount plate requires y-axis bar clamps to be flipped upside down. This design actually offers increased z-axis clearance due to the absence of a wooden plate. Belt stand-offs (belt_standoff.stl) should also be used for a horizontal y-axis belt line, and a printable, mountable y-axis opto-flag is available as well. PLA bushings can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10647, while the Prusajr PCB heat bed can be accessed through http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3919. The y-axis flag needs rotation and will be replaced soon. Licensing is GPLv3 for parts and files, and CC BY SA for images. Instructions are available on the wiki page, with text directions provided above. Begin by removing your current bed setup; loosen nuts from four y-axis bar clamps and y-axis idle bearing/y-axis motor mount. Mount bolt-able bushings and belt stand-offs/belt clamps to the Aluminum plate. Remove smooth rods from clamps, rotate clamps so slots are above horizontal threaded rod, slide smooth rods through bushings, reinsert into clamps, center bed between vertical frame threaded rods using a ruler or calipers, tighten y-axis bar clamps on each side, adjust y-axis bearing idler and y-axis motor mount to align with belt clamps, tighten nuts, install PCB bed with springs, and finally, install the Y-axis belt.
