Aluminium bed for Printrbot Plus (V2)
thingiverse
To create an aluminum bed caddy for my Printrbot Plus (V2), I chose 5mm plate due to its warped wooden base. The inspiration came from a thingiverse design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:91504). The caddy sits over the stock bed, utilizing levelling features. Heating takes longer but retains heat well. I'm considering bonding the heating element to the aluminum plate with adhesive for better performance. An update revealed that a custom 230mm x 220mm aluminum plate fits perfectly and works exceptionally well. Be aware of the heated bed's squareness, as mine had a 3-5mm diagonal difference. Calibration should be done in stable environments before each print. To create the caddy, I cut the 5mm aluminum plate with a guillotine, using a hacksaw and grinder for finishing touches. I centered and marked the element's position, drilled holes with a 3mm drill bit, and inserted 20mm M3 screws, possibly needing washers for clearance.
