Completely new Z-axis design that significantly outperforms the original 2-arm construction in terms of adjustability and sturdiness. A major weakness of the MakerBot Replicator 2 and 2X is its entire Z-axis assembly, which is made from plastic and consists of numerous individual parts. The bearing cannot be adjusted or aligned properly, and the entire structure is extremely soft and prone to oscillation, completely undermining printing quality. Our Upgrade Kit dramatically improves the performance of the Replicator 2 & 2X by greatly enhancing the Z-axis rigidity, ease of installation, and adjustability. It features ball bearings that prevent tilting or stuttering during Z-axis motion. The dials for leveling the build platform are large and easy to grasp, self-locking, and won't twist while printing. The plate is precision-cut from vibration-reducing cast aluminum, while the guides are made from hardened steel with linear ball bearings. In contrast, the original Replicator 2 & 2X features guides made of aluminum. Importantly, no firmware or MakerWare adjustments are required; all axis movements remain unchanged, so you can start printing right away after conversion without any software changes. The kit includes a complete Z-axis upgrade, detailed illustrated instructions for conversion, and the following components: linear bearings, CNC-machined aluminum plate, screws, and small parts. Conversion time is approximately 30 minutes, requiring no special knowledge or skills. The set can be easily disassembled, allowing you to restore your Replicator 2 / 2X to its original factory settings at any time without altering the original parts.
