Now with 2D printable board, see updates below. I had an idea today and this is the result. It's a chess board that will fit inside an Altoids tin. Since I couldn't find one here, I made my own. This project is mostly meant to be used with a reference book for analysis of games. The colors are intentionally offset from each other. Print this in your chosen light color, which for me is white. You can also spray paint the entire board with a dark color like black or fill in the top parts with permanent marker. After that, you can sand the board a couple times on a flat piece of sandpaper to restore the light color. Alternatively, you could over complicate the process by taping over the board with painters tape and using a razor to cut as shown in the last few pictures. Initially, I thought I had white spray paint, but it turns out I have black. This project is designed for use with specific chess pieces that I'm uploading individually because this is an original design. The pieces are remixes of the 4D Staunton Chess Pieces by PerryT on Thingiverse. You can also miniaturize your own pieces to use, but at this size, some types like swirly chess pieces won't work unless you're using a high-resolution SLA resin printer. Remember, white square is always on the bottom right and the Queen's throne should match her own color.
