Altoids Bauhaus Chess
thingiverse
I'm absolutely thrilled about the Amazing Altoids tin and after discovering Phistterbut_Inc's incredible Altoids Chess set on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2823401, being a chess enthusiast myself, I decided to take the plunge and print one out. But after printing, I remembered marciofao's Bauhaus-inspired set: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:929231 and thought it would be awesome to create my own Bauhaus-style set for the Amazing Altoids tin. To make them more maneuverable in the tin, I added concavities to all the pieces except the queen. I'm using an Ultimaker for these prints as they're extremely small and print beautifully on Makerbots too. I based my design on phistterbut's measurements and included space for 4mmx2mm magnets. Next, I decided to create a vinyl die-cut sticker for the board using Adobe Illustrator. The file contains the cut marks which I used with the Silver Bullet die-cutter. After removing the relevant squares, I applied transfer paper to place the sticker into the tin. This is still a work in progress. Although the pieces fit into the tin, they don't have enough space as I'd like. I need to refine these designs and new files will be available soon.
