Alto Trombone in F
thingiverse
This is a complete 3D printable alto trombone pitched in F, designed with disassembly in mind for tight packing and connections that retain air while playing. The result is a puzzle to assemble, but the full trombone will fit into a small bag about the size of its largest component, a 13 cm bell. To minimize post-printing operations, only two gluing and one sanding operation are required. All components can be printed on a 3D printer with a bed height of at least 39 cm in 30-40 hours. The material used is PETG plastic. Each component prints straightforwardly without supports, rafts, or brims, as designed for the printer used. Taller components may experience inaccuracies towards the top of the print, so slide components (slide_inner and slide_outer) come in fused versions (slide_inner_double and slide_outer_double) for more accurate printing. Printing these parts double improves upper portion accuracy. Although the tuning_slide component has "tuning" in its name, it's not adjustable. A new trombone mouthpiece was not designed as the instrument is meant to use a standard tenor trombone mouthpiece. Plenty of 3D printable mouthpieces are available on this site that work well. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or want access to the original Solidworks files. The printing orientation for each piece matters, and here's how it should be done: - bell: print with bell side down - mouthpiece_connector: larger head side down - slide_connector: smaller hole side down - slide_curve: small flat plate down - slide_inner/slide_inner_double: larger radius down - slide_outer/slide_outer_double: small, semicircular tabs down - support_bell: flat side down - support_mouthpiece: flat side down - support_slide_bar: either flat side down - tuning_slide: small flat plate down
