Alternative to Pranamat Eco lotus flower for back relief
thingiverse
Long ago I searched for an alternative to the Pranamat Eco, but it was too expensive and shipping times were too long. I found a similar product in China, but it took too long to arrive. So I decided to design something that would do the same thing. I want to clarify that I've never used a Pranamat Eco, so I couldn't guarantee that the feeling is exactly the same. However, I can say with confidence that using this does not cause any discomfort. I must note that I don't use it for standing yoga positions (with my feet on the mat), only for lying down on the mat while doing yoga. When I tried standing, I felt more intense sensation in my feet than when lying down. As a heavy person, I'm relieved to say that none of the peaks have broken so far, which suggests that the weight is evenly distributed among all the peaks. To make the one shown in the picture, I printed 12 batches of 12 pieces each and glued them onto a towel from Walmart for under $2. One piece has more spikes than others, it was my first design but I felt that the density of the spikes was too high, so I created another version with fewer spikes. In the final product, I combined both designs randomly. The towel is folded in half and inside there's a 2cm thick sponge. Use at your own risk. Although I've been using it without any issues. I printed the pieces with PLA plastic, but think it would be better to print them with resin instead.
