alternative Fan-Duct for Ultimaker 2/2+
youmagine
This is my first attempt to create a custom Fan-Duct for my UM2. This part enables me to print small structures with superior cooling of PLA at the print area. For regular-sized parts, I have set the fan to 50%. Please experiment to achieve optimal results on your machine. I printed this object on a filaprint-plate using plaTec from biofila, which is heat-resistant up to 120°C and relatively easy to print. The warping effect is more pronounced than PLA but less severe than ABS. It may be beneficial to seal the building area to optimize the chamber temperature. With plaTec, I have encountered no issues with heat from the nozzle. IMPORTANT NOTICES: (1) The dimensions are designed for the Olsson-Block-Nozzles. This part will not work with the original UM2 Nozzle. (2) The distance from the bottom face of the Fan-Duct to the build-plate is slightly low. At the outer edges of the build-plate - where the clamps are - the Fan-Duct collides with the clamps at the first layers. I currently use it only for smaller parts, which are out of reach of the clamps. The picture in Cura shows the best alignment for printing and the critical point (*). You must check here if the structure is closed completely. This part is designed for a 0.4 mm nozzle.
