I designed an alternate exterior ring for Simpo's Blue Yeti USB Microphone vibration damper with a side-mount configuration. I was impressed by Simpo's interior mount design, but wanted to create a version that could be mounted on the side of my mic stand instead of relying on a bottom mount. The conical shape of traditional mounts seemed unnecessary without the additional support of the bottom mount, so I decided to modify Simpo's design to suit my needs. To make the necessary adjustments, I carefully cut off the mounting ring from the bottom and repositioned it on the side of the mic stand, ensuring that the microphone would remain perpendicular to the new attachment point. Next, I deleted all unnecessary components below the main ring, fine-tuning the design to achieve a sleeker appearance. I want to extend my gratitude to Simpo for providing the original design, which served as a solid foundation for my modifications. As it stands, most Blue Yeti shock mounts look unappealing and poorly constructed, whereas Simpo's design is both visually appealing and exceptionally functional.
