Altered clamp style X ends (SAE and kung fu grip)
thingiverse
I love Aleph's X ends, but I made some alterations to suit my preferences. Instead of using version 1.1, I opted for the original as it seemed sturdier and easier to work with #6 nuts. Changes include modifying the nuts-and-bolts.scad file for #6 nuts compatibility, adjusting the clamp part for better grip on smooth rods, fixing the motor part's interference with the larger hex hole of the #6 nut, and changing the top nut space in the clamp part from a cone shape to a conventional bridge layer. However, I found that this design amplifies every tiny wobble of the Z threaded rod, so I recommend designing it to hold the nut loosely with slight play in the shaft. For now, I prefer thing 25047 as my X end. To make a metric version, use the original nuts-and-bolts.scad and swap out the clamp part with mine. Note that you'll need a longer timing belt with these X ends compared to iteration 2 Prusa X ends.
