This piece is part of an altarpiece series from the convent of Saint Augustine in Zaragoza. Commissioned in 1551 for Juan de Liceire, it was originally designed by the renowned Damian Forment. As his skilled apprentice, Liceire learned the art of sculpting alabaster directly from the master, a technique commonly used in Renaissance Aragonese sculpture.
