Altair gpcam Mount

Printable mount for the Altair GPcam series of Astro cams and others that have a 32mm body mount Print Settings Printer: CTC Rep dual Sailfish Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Whatever you print at - 0.2 / 0.25 Infill: 15% or above (it's up to you) Notes: Nice and easy straight forward print that only requires 2 nuts and 2 bolts and the tripod you want to mount it on. Because this needs the tripod mount hole threaded use 3 shells for a bit extra wall thickness to take the threads nice. Post-Printing This thing has a 5.25mm hole in the lower center that needs to be threaded to accept the standard bolt on a tripod mount so you can remove it and put your expensive DSLR back on when you are not using the cam mount. 2 x 30mm M3 hex head bolts are required and are inserted from top down through the upper part, and 2 x M3 hex nuts will fit into the recessed hex holes in the bottom of the lower part. To install the nuts I found it easier to push the 30mm bolt down through the lower part then wind the nut on a few thread turns and this makes it easier to pull the nut up into the retaining hole, once both nuts are in place then just unscrew the bolts and slide them through the upper part and slide the two parts together, tighten the bolts down a bit and you're ready to go. Threading the 5.25mm hole to fit the standard camera bolt was just a case of patience and holding the mount against the tripod bolt and turning the mount while pressing them together with light pressure until the thread started and was looking level. Once the thread has started turn half a turn forward and quarter turn back to help clear and cut ABS out of the thread and hole, or use the correct size cutting tap if you have access to one. **** REMEMBER **** Once you have your cam inserted into the mount and you are tightening the 2 bolts down, tighten them down just enough to hold the cam snug, you don't need them just as tight. How I Designed This As ever, I start my design work in Tinkercad and once happy, then import into 123D and tidy up etc. (I am gonna be lost once 123D bites the dust in a short while.... June or July 2017, I think it gets the chop).
