Alpha 3D Model Rocket

This tribute pays homage to a legendary Estes kit. The Estes Alpha III was one of the first rocket kits I ever built as a kid, and it still holds a special place in my heart. While this model isn't an exact replica of that iconic kit, its appearance is unmistakably similar. You can either print just the nose cone and fin canister, using standard BT-50 body tube (6" long), or you can print the entire body tube model in 'vase mode' (single wall spiral with no top or bottom). Either ABS or PETG will work well for printing. I used ESun's translucent orange PETG for my 'full print' version, while a standard body tube version features red FoxSmart ABS for the nose cone and fin canister. The 'thick' version of the fin canister boasts slightly thicker fins for added durability. For your first flight, try an A8-3, while a B6-4 is recommended for your second flight. Check out this launch video: https://youtu.be/lyxZVnFooGs As a scratch-built rocket, always conduct a swing test of the fully prepped model before flying. Add weight to the nose (clay) until the swing test is successful. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhS5fT_EE6M
