I wanted to build a simple but robust weatherproof AllskyCam with an raspberry Pi 3b+ /4 and a HQ camera. So i made my AllSkyCam version out a sewer sleeve and 2 endcaps with threads. Cause the 3.5" dome fits perfect within the 125mm endcap i just had to mill a hole for dome to fit through in. The endcap is sealed with a rubber ring so its also waterproof when you tight the lid with the dome. If you still have find its not waterproof you could fill up the outside ring with silicone glue, but than the dome is glued to the endcap. The next goal is to design the interior that is easily accessed by unscrewing the cap and pull it out. Everything is hold together by 4 carbon rods and the middle plate no glue or screws needed. The HQ camera ribbon cable is aligned with the PI DSI camera port, so its easily fitted through the top-plate to the raspberry pi. Integrating an POE Splitter 48V to 5V/2A for Raspberry Pi i connect everything with 1 cable. Have suggestion or improvements let me know ! Cheers and clear Skies Building Description: - 3D Print all the 4 parts - Drill/Mill a hole with diameter (⌀96.80mm) in 1 of the endcaps this is where the Dome will fit through. - Drill 1 hole in the middle of the endcap for the M20 Cable Gland - Saw 4 carbon rods with a length of 150mm - insert standoffs in the holes for raspberry pi and HQ camera - Put all parts together. - Zip tie the POE adapter to the otherside - wire everything together - Install thomasjacquin awesome Allskycam software on raspberry ( see link at bottom ) - Put your Allskycam on your roof and enjoy the nightsky.
