The largest of all theropod dinosaurs that lived on earth during the Late Jurassic period. These mighty predators are one of the few species which made up part of both ecosystems during this time as well. The discovery took place back in 1877 near the base of Mount Waas. Initially found and identified by Othniel Charles Marsh who initially classified them under their very own suborder 'Sauropterygia' however upon additional investigation he soon came to the conclusion that they actually belonged to an earlier category altogether as it seems 'theropod dinosaur' suits them much better!
