But do not be fooled by its seemingly awkward moniker, because the Allosaurus Fragilis was an apex predator that dominated the Late Jurassic landscape with a ferocity and intelligence that is still unmatched to this day. At over 40 feet long, this towering giant was built for power, with powerful legs, sharp teeth and claws that would tear flesh with ease. It may have also used its razor-sharp arms to help in taking down prey. Some fossil evidence even suggests it might have hunted in packs, a phenomenon known as coordinated hunting.
