Allight KV4 velomobile rear suspension arm assembly
grabcad
This is a model of the rear suspension arm from an Allight KV4 velomobile kit. This is the latest version of the Alleweder velomobile originally made by Dutch constructor Bart Verhees as an entry for a contest to make the best muscle driven commuter vehicle. The Allight version of the Alleweder Velomobile is a refined version and this sub-assembly is a good illustration of a really developed construction that is both light and very strong. It is basically four pieces of 8 mm thick aluminium that has been milled down to 1 mm thickness most places leaving only reinforcement ribs with full plate thickness. A thin aluminium end plate reinforces and protects from debris and water from the wheel. The video link is an impressive time-lapse assembly of this fine velomobile - a must see! For the record: I have no connections with the designer or manufacturer of the kit, I have only bought and assembled one of their kits and admired the nice design work so much that I made 3D models of it. To protect their work I will not post the full 3D model.
