The kid wanted a doorbell that could play the Hawaii 50 theme song. It sounded like an extremely simple project. http://www.leftcoast.biz/iWeb/Left_Coast/The_doorbell.html Post-Printing Paint & sand & paint & sand... I applied primer paint to all the parts, then coated them thoroughly. The first couple of coats were sanded with 120 grit sandpaper to smooth out the surface. Three or four more coats were added to fill in the "grain" and achieve a relatively smooth finish. The last few coats were sanded at 220 grit as things began to get smoother. Finally, I sprayed on the top coat. You'll never completely eliminate the grain, but that's okay. If you did, you'd be getting into the "fill" layers and that would be a complete nightmare! I also used a foam sanding block, which is crucial. Always use a block to level out your surfaces. As for paint, I chose high-quality, name-brand rattle can spray paint. How I Designed This There's actually a detailed write-up available... Here's the link: http://www.leftcoast.biz/iWeb/Left_Coast/The_doorbell.html
