Allen Edmonds briefcase clip inlay and damage filler ML

The Allen Edmonds brand offers a briefcase where the metal clip part is touted as "Solid brass hardware with gun metal finish." However, the reality is far from solid - the hardware just can't hold up. Worn-down clips pose a significant risk to owners, and replacing them isn't easy since they're bolted (not screwed) into place. This all points to cheap manufacturing methods. To avoid total damage to the part before it's too late, one has to anticipate potential problems like a broken clip, lost bag, damaged clip, or having to deal with lost items prematurely. If you buy a new bag, you may want to reinforce the clip from the start (then use a modified version of this inlay whose rectangular protrusion is designed to reside inside the defect). Luckily, we can create inlays to alleviate the problem. These can be obtained on Shapeways in various materials. https://www.shapeways.com/product/PLF5GBWP6/taschendings This shape was approximated over 3 iterations (i.e. design, print, test, redesign, print, test, revise, print, test, bazinga).
