The iconic Monument to Louis XIV stands proudly at Bellecour Square in Lyon, France, a majestic bronze equestrian statue crafted by master sculptor Francois-Frédéric Lemot in 1825. This impressive monument was built as a replacement for the original statue created by Martin Desjardins back in 1713, which met its untimely demise during the tumultuous Revolution of 1793. At the pedestal's base, two magnificent statues dating from 1720 take center stage: The allegorical figure of the Rhone River, beautifully rendered by Guillaum Coustou, and The Saone River, skillfully crafted by Nicolas Coustou.
