All Terrain Wheel for B-robot Evo

thingiverse

This is an All Terrain wheel for the JJRobot Evo Self Balancing Robot (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1069256). Huge thanks to jjrobot guys. The standard wheels perform well on smooth floors but struggle on carpet or rough surfaces like sidewalks. Adding rubber bands around these new wheels helps it roll smoothly without slipping, although not entirely necessary. The wheels have the same diameter but are significantly wider with "treads" and work better on uneven floors. These custom wheels take a bit longer to print than stock wheels, but they're worth it if you plan to use them in areas with rough surfaces. Enjoy using your upgraded JJRobot Evo! Wheels fit snugly onto notched NEMA 17 Stepper motors, same hole size as original wheels. March 29, 2016: I added NinjaFlex Semi-Flex treads that worked great. Created unconventional tread designs using a bracelet OpenSCAD program downloaded from Thingiverse - now, modified the code to place text as an extrusion rather than indentation and changed the font size until it matched the tread width. Here's the OpenSCAD code and STL file for your reference; note that it's a tight fit but I believe snug is better than loose. Tight photos are coming soon! Print settings used: Printer: box frame Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 25% Notes: Prints fine with PLA and 25% infill.
