Attendees at a conference could even print their own pins, symbolizing the growing ease of sharing 3D printed files via platforms like Thingiverse and Grabcad. The octagonal shape embodies the multifaceted nature of effective design, while the hidden text underscores how much industrial design work remains unseen. The pin has three variations: one with a 2.5-inch size for lapel attachment, another as a thumbtack, and a third that slips onto a lapel. All versions showcase the same inner design.
