SUMMARY This is a prosthetic index finger, made for a child (age 3) which uses only the distal finger section, flex hinge and grip pad from the Kinetic Hand - at 60% scale and with minor modifications as described below. DESIGN COMMENTS The recipient's hand was modelled using 'makehuman' (http://www.makehumancommunity.org/), adjusted to match photos provided. The external surface profile of the makehuman model was then used as the internal surface of the palm piece. To prevent the recipient detaching (and possibly swallowing) any part of the prosthetic, a 100 lb braided line is threaded through all sections. The holes through the Kinetic Hand parts are modified for this purpose. The Velcro palm strap is actually a cable tie (eg https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/hook-loop-fasteners/0219465/). ASSEMBLY NOTE The braided line will not push through the small holes in the finger parts, but a doubled monofilament line will, which is then used to draw the braided line through.
