Alienware R11 3.5 Inch HDD Mount
thingiverse
Hard drive (3.5 inch) mount for the Dell Alienware R11 case. Likely also works for the Alienware R9 thru to R12 cases but this is unconfirmed. Attach the bracket to a 3.5 inch HDD using #6-32 screws (generally standard for 3.5" drives) and slot it in place on the retaining rails. The easiest way is to flip the bracket and drive on it's top and the screw holes and bracket should line up. Use #6-32 case screws to secure in place. The hole spacing is standardized from the "top" of the drive/bracket so I believe this will accommodate drives of all "standard" thicknesses however I don't have any thicker drives to test myself for compatibility. Overall this design was borne out of recognition that if you utilize the fan bracket I designed (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5675944) the HDD cage on the face of the R11 doesn't fit as a drop in on the rails of the bottom of the case as it interferes with case clips. A Dremel or a saw can make the stock bracket work, but this bracket might be an easier path for some. As shown in the pictures, I used hex head "case style" screws when designing this to try and maximize compatibility. The thread for HDD screws is the same but the head is different (smaller in thickness and diameter) for those who care. Note this is NOT the same for for 2.5" drives (M3 thread I believe) nor will this bracket work for that drive size - another design may be in the works; no promises. Legit let me know if a 2.5" drive holder might interest you.
