Aliens Smart Gun Parts

Here are some dress-up parts to transform a deactivated MG42 gun into a smart gun like those found in the movie Aliens. These components might work with airsoft versions of the gun, but I'm not sure if they'll be sized the same. The disc, disc standoff, and drum cover are all designed for the machine gun's drum magazine. The guard covers the trigger assembly, while the block attaches to the rear of the gun, allowing the motorcycle brake lever trigger to be attached as shown in the pictures. I used epoxy to attach all the drum parts together and secured them to the real drum magazine using screws. The disc standoff is simply glued to the disc, providing enough space so that the drum magazine doesn't interfere with the catch mechanism on the main body of the gun. The rear block fits snugly into the back end of the gun, and I haven't needed to add any attachment screws. The block features a hollow section for cabling to run from the trigger to the motorcycle brake assembly. The trigger guard is attached via small machine screws that I tapped into the trigger assembly. It's held very tightly once all the rest of the block and trigger cable tubing are in place. The diameter of the tube running between the trigger guard and the rear block is 20mm. I chose to use steel tube instead of printing one, as I had it on hand. Modeling and printing a tube wouldn't be too difficult, though. For the handguard attached to the rear block, I used 50mm diameter aluminum tube cut to size and screwed through the extrusion at the rear of the block, as shown in the pictures. EDIT 01/05/19: I added a model of the muzzle attachment. Mine is turned steel tube, and the model is an exact replica of that.
