The larger Mk2 alien vessel, also known as the eye spear, is a rare and formidable opponent compared to its smaller counterpart, the Mk1 ship. Equipped with a robust array of Meson guns on each flank, these ships pack a significant punch at close range. However, their central Meson gun mounts have a longer effective range, making them even more deadly from a distance. One notable limitation of the Mk2 is its slower top speed, which lags behind that of both the Mk1 and similar Federation vessels of comparable size - a fact that can be exploited in battle to gain an advantage. Additionally, the placement of the top gun mount remains unclear, potentially utilizing a long-axis pivot to increase the number of guns brought to bear on the enemy. Interestingly, these ships lack shields as far as our knowledge goes, but possess a self-healing living outer shell capable of absorbing significantly more damage than Federation cruisers of similar size.
