Executive officer Thomas Kane was part of a team that landed on LV-426 in response to a mysterious signal. They discovered a derelict ship with fossilized remains and proceeded to investigate its contents. Kane, armed with a laser pistol for self defense, entered a cavernous chamber filled with eggs. A Facehugger leapt out of one of the eggs and attached itself to him. Unable to fire his weapon in time, he was carried unconscious back to their ship, introducing an unidentified alien lifeform aboard.
