These alien threats harvest planetary cores to refuel their ships and grow advanced technology at the cost of wiping out other species. The Harvesters invaded numerous planets long ago, killing all life on them and claiming resources. One planet they conquered held highly-advanced trans-sentient beings who teetered on extinction. One being survived and formed an alliance with others to fight back against the Harvester threat, creating a years-long stalemate. With thousands of years fighting, Harvesters are at war with this coalition and unable to locate their enemies' home planet. As a result, they seek artificial intelligence known as Sphere, vital in uncovering enemy secrets and overcoming their weaknesses.
