Alien Data Disk

Alien Data Disk

My grandfather passed away, and during a sort through his air force items, I discovered an enigmatic object. It's a heavy, dull black metal disc with intricate geometric shapes precision-cut into its surface. The number at the top appears to have been added later, as it's less distinct than the shapes. My grandfather referred to it as the "Alien data disk" when I was young but told my mom it was an "interface disk." He claimed to have discarded it, but I found it among his belongings. I used this intriguing artifact as inspiration for my first SketchUp project. The design dimensions are quite accurate if scaled down to 0.01. The rounded edge is scratched, but unfortunately, I couldn't replicate the effect in SketchUp. While not perfectly measured, the shapes on the disc are visually consistent with the original.
