Alien Ball Bearing

Alien Ball Bearing

thingiverse

This gadget features five independent balls inside an organic ring, resembling an extraterrestrial version of a ball bearing. Despite not separating the inner and outer rolling like real bearings, it makes for a fun desk toy during slow meetings or conference calls. For rapid spinning, aim compressed air at the balls at the perfect angle. With ReplicatorG, a MakerBot Replicator2 using Replicator 2 slicing defaults was employed, setting infill at 10%, layer height to 0.200, and shells, feedrate, travel feed, and temperature at 1, 40, 55, and 220 respectively. A raft with full support was used in printing, but be cautious when removing the support structure due to tight clearance between spheres and ring layers.
