alien abduction lamp

I Designed this after not finding something I liked. It uses "Core" brand beer glasses (straight tapered sides) 16 or 22 ounces. These are available online, or if you know your bartender. Super bright LEDs in cool white (12B-CW-S) serve as the main light. Five 5 mm, 12-volt LEDs (your color preference) illuminate the windows. A single 12-volt charger/power supply with at least 500 milliamps powers everything. I added a small plastic farm animal for fun. Screw the main light into the bottom recess of the core and connect all red wires together and black wires separately. Drill a hole in the edge of the saucer, feed power supply wires through it, and connect them to all red and black LED wires (the positive wire usually has a trace). Test the wiring before assembling anything. Glue the windows into the saucer halves, position the core, and glue the LED into the core. Assemble the saucer carefully. Note: Use double-faced tape to attach sandpaper to the end of the glass, then sand the opening at the bottom of the saucer for a snug fit to the glass. Don't over-sand or the glass will rest on the core.
