Alicia Garza, Co-Founder of Black Lives Matter

The Bust of Alicia Garza is a symbol of solidarity with Black Lives Matter and civil rights activists everywhere. To complement our George Floyd bust, we're introducing additional busts honoring pioneers of civil rights. The Bust of Alicia Garza was created by Daniel and Rodman Edwards, a talented father-and-son team of sculptors who wanted to contribute their talents to the movement. "We recognize that protesting is crucial," says Rodman Edwards, "but we also know there are many effective ways to make a difference." He explains that they decided to use their skills to show their support in the best way possible. "As statues honoring systemic racism are being taken down, it's time for people to have control over how they're remembered. For the first time ever, individuals now have the power to choose who they want to honor forever," declares Rodman Edwards.
