The "Ali and Nino" steel sculpture, crafted by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze, stands tall at 8 meters (26 feet) in Batumi, Georgia. Representing a Muslim boy, Ali, and a Georgian princess, Nino, from Azerbaijani author Kurban Said's famous 1937 novel, this moving artwork is inspired by the theme of sacrifice. Daily at 7 p.m., the figures embrace before parting ways in a reenactment of their tragic love story, which was interrupted by the Soviet invasion of Russia. Originally designed in 2007, the sculpture wasn't installed until 2010 and has since captivated viewers with its moving display.
