The Algerine-class was a low-poly ship designed to sweep mines from the water, and during World War II, the Royal Navy and Royal Canadian Navy commissioned 110 of these vessels. These fleet minesweepers boasted an impressive range of approximately 5000 nautical miles, and they were equipped with powerful armaments including a 4-inch gun as well as four 20 mm Oerlikon or forty-millimeter Bofors anti-aircraft guns to protect them from the air.
