Alexandru Vaida-Voevod or Vaida-Voievod, a prominent Romanian politician, championed the union of Transylvania with the Romanian Old Kingdom. He played a pivotal role in promoting this unification effort before 1918 when Transylvania was part of Austria-Hungary. Later, he served three terms as Prime Minister of Greater Romania.
