Alexandru Vaida-Voevod (born February 27, 1872, Olpret, now Bobâlna - died March 19, 1950, Sibiu), was a prominent politician, doctor, writer, and one of the leading figures of the National Party of Transylvania, later the National Peasant Party. Vaida-Voevod entered politics in the circle of Archduke Franz Ferdinand as an advocate for the rights of Romanians from Transylvania.\nAfter the Union of Transylvania with Romania and the merger of nationalists from Transylvania with peasants from the Old Kingdom, he became one of the leading figures of the new National Peasant Party.\nIn his political career, Alexandru Vaida-Voevod held the position of Prime Minister of Romania for three terms, also standing out as head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
