Alexandre Sévère was born in 208 in Arca and appointed Alexianus in Phoenicia. His grandmother Julia Maesa, sister of Septimius Severus, and his mother Julia Mamaea raised him. As the nephew of Emperor Septimius Severus, he succeeded his cousin Elagabalus, who chose him as Caesar in 221. Taking the name Alexander Severus, Alexianus then took control after Elagabalus attempted to reverse the decision but Julia Maesa caused a Praetorian revolt that led to Elagabalus' death. The Senate immediately named Severus Alexander Augustus. This item is part of "Scan The World".
