Alexander burst forth into existence in Pella, the storied metropolis of Macedonia, during the sweltering summer of July 356 BC. His parents, Philip II of Macedon and his wife Olympias, were the proud guardians of their newborn son. Under the tutelage of the renowned philosopher Aristotle, Alexander's mind was sharpened like a finely honed blade. But fate had other plans, as Philip fell victim to an assassin's treacherous blade in 336 BC, leaving behind a powerful yet precarious kingdom for his ambitious son to inherit. With lightning speed and unyielding determination, Alexander tackled his foes at home and reasserted Macedonian dominance within the realm of Greece. Then, with an insatiable hunger for conquest, he set out to vanquish the colossal Persian Empire, whose very existence seemed destined to be reduced to ashes beneath his feet.
