Alexa Enabled Light Switch
thingiverse
Amazon's Alexa voice assistant is a popular feature found in many consumer electronic devices, making it an excellent starting point for home automation. I recently purchased several Echo Dots and discovered that some came bundled with smart plugs capable of turning my floor lamps into IoT devices. However, to utilize Alexa for my home's overhead lights, I must either purchase new lightbulbs or rewire my light switches and install internet-enabled relays. To overcome this limitation, I decided to use 3D printing and a NodeMCU microcontroller equipped with an ESP8266 chip to create a battery-powered, internet-enabled smart switch that can be easily installed over the existing light switches in my home.
