Alex's Finishing Tool Rack
thingiverse
The workshop space demands organization; therefore, I will tidy up the server room/3D printer area! Using finishing tools for pre-processing before printing necessitates storage space. This 3D-printed rack system provides optimal tool storage with designated slots for my collection of rasps from Harbor Freight, as well as sidecar compartments tailored to accommodate tweezers and brass brushes specifically designed for cleaning nozzles on printers. The upper tray design directly complements my present rasp set. Printing with the included sidecar yields a complete solution; however, it may be advisable to reinforce this construction using glue for durability. As I further refine this model by lengthening the sidecar and adjusting shelf configurations supporting the slot systems, adhering to standard best practices necessitates considering this approach in conjunction with future use. Gathering necessary supplies precedes successful assembly. For constructing this design: Gorilla Glue or alternative adhesives work effectively alongside your printer, which may already utilize PLA material as used here, operating under control via Octoprint on a Raspberry Pi for print server functionality and employing Simplify 3D for slicing tasks with the addition of ensuring parts are run through Netfabb to secure print quality. As intended, the top slots snugly fit onto a fundamental basis design; though some users might require applying a small amount of Gorilla Glue for equilibrium during slot usage when filled with tools. According to testing conducted here – printing using PLA material while leveraging Simplify 3D software for slicing and operating under the supervision of Octoprint – adhesion provided suitable durability as indicated by results after just 8 hours or upon leaving it undisturbed overnight. This assembly adheres to guidelines evident within depicted illustrations: connecting the provided sidecar gently according to images supplied. Two separate units may be printed; currently only one instance is showcased within visuals displayed above
