Neil Young's Alesis Microverb effect device is set to reverse reverb mode, a feature exclusive to the 1986 version 1. When Neil plays it, the sound becomes almost atonal and difficult to distinguish from one note. It also produces high frequency feedback squeals. Combined with other effects, the device can generate very unusual sounds.
