This small equestrian figure depicting Alexander the Great at the Battle of Granicus was made from a bronze original that appeared in the excavations of Herculaneum between 1760 and 1762. Antonio Reder, a skilled artist, created this exceptional piece specifically for King Carlos III of Spain. It is a plaster cast with metallic details and a high-quality finish, which underscores its significance. This remarkable artwork was among the first pieces sent to Spain in 1763 for King Carlos III's collection. The original bronze can be found today at the Naples Museum (4996), cataloged as RABASF V-255, measuring 48 x 47 cm.
